ST JOSEPH USBC BOWLING ASSOCIATION

BOWLER OF THE YEAR CRITERIA
Nominees can be nominated by anyone, including league officers, friends, bowling center
personnel, or they can nominate them self for consideration for this award. A nominee will
not be considered for both, Bowler of the Year and Senior Bowler of the Year the same year.
A bowler who is 62 years or older may choose to be nominated for Bowler of the Year rather
than Senior Bowler of the Year.

Bowler of the Year - nominations will be open to male and female bowlers who are actively
bowling in an adult USBC sanctioned league with 21 or more games.

Senior Bowler of the Year - nominations will be open to male and female bowlers who are
actively involved in a USBC sanctioned league (not limited to Senior Leagues) with 21 or
more games, but whose age is 62 years or older.

Youth Bowler of the Year - nominations will be open to male and female bowlers who are
actively involved in a USBC Youth League.  A youth bowler cannot be a member of any adult
league to qualify for this award.

The areas the committee will look at to determine the winner of each of these categories will
be:

(1) Honor scores bowled during the current bowling year, (2) Averages maintained in current
USBC sanctioned leagues and (3) Sportsmanship of the bowler in these leagues.

In addition to the above criteria, we feel that in order to be able to determine the winner of
the above award, this additional information will be considered:

a: Does the bowler bowl in more than one bowling center?  If so, which centers, what
leagues and what are the averages maintained in these additional centers?

b: Tournament participation.  Names and locations of all tournaments bowled in during the
past year and how well did the nominee do in the final standing for the tournament?

c: Is the nominee a league officer, if so what league and what office did he or she hold?

d: Was the nominee active in any volunteer work that would promote the sport of bowling,
such as, helping with tournaments, helping with youth bowlers or new bowlers of any age
to teach them the sport of bowling or do any other work to promote the advancement and
sport of bowling.

To be considered for any of the above awards, we (the St. Joseph Bowling Association) will
need to have this information by February 15th (Adult) or March 17th (Youth) in order to give
enough time for the committee to review and verify the information on the application.  If
however your application has been turned in and you participate in any tournament and you
feel the standing in that tournament would be a benefit, then you will be able to amend your
application (on or before March 17th ) with information that will enable the committee to
verify your standing and take that information into consideration with the rest of the
information you have already submitted.
